LUCIA DONATELLI

While at Brown, Lucia ​spent her summers teaching science and creative writing to​ bilingual middle school students with Breakthrough Collaborative​ Santa Fe in New Mexico​. ​Lucia’s first extensive trip abroad was her junior year in college, when she spent a semester studying literature at the Universidad Autónoma in Madrid. Lucia returned to Spain for three years to work for Boston University in Madrid and Benjamin Franklin International School in Barcelona.​ She has also traveled to Cuba, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Colombia with Spanish-language programs.​ Lucia is fluent in Spanish and has twice led Putney’s Language Learning Spain program.

BRETTON RODRIGUEZ

During his time in Chicago, Bretton worked as a teaching assistant and after school coordinator in the Chicago Public Schools. He also made several trips to Spain, where he studied Spanish in Málaga and worked on an archaeological dig outside of Segovia. After graduation, he moved to Santiago, Chile, where he taught English for a year and backpacked through Chile, Perú, Bolivia, Uruguay, and Argentina. Bretton returned to the United States, where he worked as a newspaper correspondent, before leaving to pursue an M.A. at the University of York in England. After receiving his degree, he taught English at la Universidad Tecnológica de la Mixteca in Huajuapan de León in the Mexican state of Oaxaca. While at Notre Dame, Bretton has taught Spanish language and a course on medieval Spain. Recently, Bretton received a Fulbright Award to spend a year conducting research toward his dissertation at the Biblioteca Nacional in Madrid. He has led service programs for high school students in Costa Rica. Bretton is fluent in Spanish.
